Aug. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- The Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) will be celebrating its 50th foundation anniversary with month-long activities to be held in its Manila and Quezon City campuses.

A major highlight of these anniversary activities is the 2012 TIP Outstanding Alumni Awards (TIP Alumni Awards), whose August 31, 2011 deadline for nominations is just around the corner.

Launched in September of last year, the Alumni Awards have the primary objective of recognizing TIP graduates for their exceptional professional, entrepreneurial, academic, or research achievements; as well as their contributions in terms of time, talent and efforts in enhancing the quality of education at TIP.

The Alumni Awards are also intended to acknowledge TIP graduates whose success in other endeavors such as industry practice, corporate governance, business or entrepreneurship, government service, social development, environment protection, among other fields, has made their communities better places to live in.

Said TIP president, Dr. Elizabeth Quirino-Lahoz, “TIP has produced some of the brightest, most talented and persevering students who, after graduation, went to their respective fields and gained the respect and admiration of their peers and their communities. As such, it is but fitting to award these outstanding alumni during this very important occasion of the school’s 50th anniversary.”

TIP alumni who graduated from either TIP Manila or TIP Quezon City and earned a graduate or undergraduate degree, associate diploma or certificate, are eligible to be nominated to the following categories: the 2012 TIP Outstanding Alumni Awards, the 2012 TIP Outstanding Young Achiever Alumni Awards, and the 2012 TIP Outstanding Service Alumni Awards.

There will be separate sets of alumni awardees for TIP Manila and TIP QC, with the Alumni and Placement Offices of both campuses currently receiving nominations for these awards. The TIP Manila Alumni Placement Office is located at 363 P. Casal St., Quiapo, Manila, while the TIP QC Alumni and Placement Office is located at 938 Aurora Boulevard, Cubao, Quezon City.

Nomination forms and the implementing guidelines may be obtained from these offices or downloaded from the TIP website at www.tip.edu.ph.

The grand alumni homecoming for TIP QC will be held on February 4, 2012 and for TIP Manila on February 11, 2012. Both will be held at the new TIP Quezon City Anniversary Hall, which was recently built to serve as venue for all the TIP 50th Anniversary activities in February 2012.

According to Engr. Jemuel Castillo, TIP’s vice president for quality management and planning and president of the TIP Alumni Association (TIPAA), “the officers of the alumni associations are currently leading efforts to ensure very memorable and fun-filled homecoming programs for the separate TIP Manila and TIP QC Grand Alumni Homecomings.”

“We want our alumni to get together once again at their respective campuses and walk through memory lane, while celebrating the success that their talent and hard work, and this school, has made possible,” Castillo said.
