| ![]() RGA: Residual Gas Analysis in Non-Authentic Electronic Component DetectionJoseph Federico, Director of Operations at NJMET in Clifton NJ, Describes New Residual Gas Analysis Tests That are being Adopted as Standards for Non-Authentic Electronic Component Detection.
By: NJMET One of the analysis being implemented is RGA: Residual Gas Analysis. Residual Gas Analysis is performed to quantitatively measure the primary and trace gases inside hermetic components. The gas content inside sealed components, particularly moisture concentration, can cause long term reliability problems such as corrosion, fogging, leakage, current bit errors and lubrication issues. Known to some as Residual Gas Analysis (RGA) or “Mil-Std 1018”, the test measures the primary sealing quality control, studying long term out-gassing of the enclosed materials inside the components, and for product qualification. ”The additional test requirements that these industries plan to impose will be very helpful in uncovering non-authentic electronic components” said NJMET VP Joseph Federico headquartered in NJ. For nearly a decade, Joseph Federico and the NJMET laboratory staff in NJ has implelented a state of the art testing program validating electronic part authenticity with a program called Mission Imposter® which has been highlighted on Fox and CNBC business television.
