CLIFTON, N.J. - Aug. 3, 2022 - PRLog -- Joseph Federico, NJMET Director of Operations, announced the company's annual STEM scholarship was awarded to Mr. Sami Choudhury, a graduate of the Passaic County Technical Institute (PCTI) in Wayne, NJ.

Sami will attend NJIT's Newark College of Engineering majoring in Biomedical Engineering. Sami graduated from PCTI in June with a GPA of 3.967. His STEM-related extracurriculars were NASA Hunch (Class Captain), Sea Perch (Team Captain), Robotics club (Team Captain), Free Talk Fridays (President, Co-founder) as well as Highschool Shop: Project Lead the Way: Applied Engineering. In college, Sami hopes to do biomechanical research into efficient and cost-effective bionic limbs and other body parts.

"It was a pleasure presenting Sami with this scholarship. It's the sixth consecutive year (eighth overall) a PTCI student has received this award," said NJMET's Joseph Federico. Mr. Choudhury was presented with a gift check and plaque by Mr. Federico.

"During Mr. Choudhury's interview at NJMET, I was pleased to learn that his proudest accomplishment was co-founding Free Talk Fridays: a virtual club that fostered insightful conversations between students pursuing STEM in a safe and monitored space. I also learned that Sami was involved in another exciting project that he had the honor of being the team captain for the NASA Hunch Project where he led his class in tackling the arduous task of creating full functional magnetic boots that would be the prototype design for future NASA projects," added NJMET's Federico from their headquarters in Clifton, NJ.

Last year's recipient from PCTI was Ms. Victoria Pirog who also participated in the NASA Hunch Program.  "NJMET is proud to present this scholarship for the 22nd consecutive year and to offer internships to current college students who will learn the intricacies of electronic component testing in the industrial, military and aerospace arenas," added Joseph Federico.
