A Smoke-free Dining Experience at the Sheraton Montazah Egypt

July 26, 2011 - PRLog -- Sheraton Montazah Alexandria Egypt is committed to providing its guests and associates with a safe and healthy environment, and is proud to boast its steps towards a smoke free dinning experience in its major restaurant, Café’ Coquillage. This comes within the Sheraton’s environmental practices in the different operational areas including appointing designated rooms for non smokers.

Sheraton Montazah is not alone to partially ban smoking in some of its guest areas. This ban is a direct response to the non smokers who don’t want to be exposed to the second hand smoke as well as  the efforts being exerted by the Ministry of Environment and the WHO in Egypt for embracing the Tobacco free project in the public places, malls, airports and restaurants.

The new policy being now proactively implemented at the Hotel’s main restaurant; Café Coquillage as well as banning “ Shisha” ( water pipe) indoors and allowing it only at the outdoor cafés are only a step forward towards enhancing the smoke-free culture amongst our guests,  thus helping  reduce hurts, diseases and kills for adults, children and pregnant women.  Banning smoking in the Café Coquillage also helped saving our associates’ health who are subject to potential illness from second hand smoke related diseases such as cancer, respiratory illness and heart stroke. It also reinforced the property’s reputation as an environmentally friendly hotel.

The smoke-free restaurant policy has received praise from many of our non smoking guests and even some of those smokers who found in the policy a good motive for them to quit tobacco .

But in view of the fact that we do still hear some stories about customers who find it enjoyable having a drink with a cigarette, we allowed smoking in our limited seating La Mamma Italian Restaurant while we shall continue our efforts to ban smoking in all our restaurants.
