July 26, 2011 - PRLog -- New York, New York – Muscle flexers, wall climbers, people who are spinning their wheels, and other CLAY Health Club & Spa enthusiasts now have a sweet reward waiting for them before or after a workout.  Starting July 18th, Sherry’s Shortcakes became a featured item in the Clay café, providing small bites of perfection that are as well-suited to a formal tea party with the Queen as they are to a health club café.

Going, Going, Gobbled Up
Just 24 hours after she made her first delivery, Sherry Rousso – the ‘Sherry’ of Sherry’s Short Cakes, learned that her product was a sold out success.  “I got a phone call from Jenny,  the café manager, the next day asking if I could bring more cakes in that night or first thing in the morning instead of waiting “till the end of the week as planned,” reports Rousso  “She said many of the members were taking a dozen at a time to their offices!”

But the Club’s re-order was just the beginning of what turned out to be a big week for the little cake.  “We heard from club members who wanted to place their own orders,” reports Sherry.  To accommodate the interest, CLAY Café will have order sheets for the Short Cakes available.

And just in time to meet the growing demand of enthusiastic buyers who have discovered the secret of Sherry’s Short Cakes, the company has launched its website Sherry’s ShortCakes.com.

What People Truly Crave is Quality
Sherry’s Short Cakes are right in step with the current culinary zeitgeist that eschews supersize portions in favor of munchkin-sized treats.  “People will always have a craving for richly decadent desserts, but today they looking for more petite bites to indulge in,” says Rousso.  She notes that restaurant chains including P. F. Chang’s (Mini Desserts), and Applebee’s (Dessert Shooters) are all jumping on the small-bites bandwagon.

Many of the recent efforts have focused on miniaturized versions of items that already were on menus.  The miniaturization trend has grown since the Orlando, Fla.-based Darden Restaurants opened its first Seasons 52 restaurant six years ago. The upscale casual concept was aimed at baby boomers who wanted to moderate their calorie intake without sacrificing taste

No Eggs, No Cream, No Butter...No Really
Keith Barile, the Marketing Director at luxe CLAY Health Club & Spa was first introduced to Sherry and her intensely flavored dessert cakes when she catered an event at the club whose creed is ‘Our temple for yours.’ The Short Cakes were an instant hit and their popularity led to another party which, in turn, led to CLAY’s decision to offer Sherry’s Short Cakes in their café.

To commemorate the partnership and welcome the Sherry’s Short Cakes to their new home, CLAY threw Champagne & Shortcakes, a rooftop reception for club members and their guests on the evening of July 20th.  As expected, the Short Cakes were gone before the sun went down.

“You may think desserts at a gym are a weird combination, but Sherry’s Shortcakes are a decadent guilt-free treat since there is no cream dairy or butter,” reports Barile.  “I do not swear by the organic/vegan lifestyle but I do swear by Sherry’ Shortcakes!”  Barile continues his praise saying, “Not only are they delicious, but they are exquisitely designed with edible glitter and each packaged like a special gift.”

Short Cakes Are Pretty...and Principled
Gift-giving is a large component of the Short Cakes world view.  The company’s elaborately beautiful gifts come in both ready-to-give and custom-made options.  Even the four-inch Signature Cake, a behemoth by Short Cake standards gets the star treatment.

Available for purchase individually, each Signature Cake is artfully enveloped with a stylish ribbon treatment that can be color-customized to fit any occasion. “And if you’d like to give yourself a special gift that you’ll want to eat with your eyes before getting your mouth involved, this is an indulgence you can enjoy on every level,” says Ruosso.

The full line of hand-assembled, one-of-a-kind gift options feature Sherry’s Short Cakes signature logo design art and a myriad of colorful decorative touches, including ribbon, beads, and other distinctive elements.

But it’s what Sherry’s Short Cakes don’t include that make them so popular with CLAY’s gym members and Sherry’s growing and enthusiastic audience.  Sherry’s Short Cakes look wickedly rich and sinfully good, and they’re both.  But Ruosso is quick to note that Short Cakes are made with all natural ingredients and that means, among other things, no animal fat, no processed sugar, no preservatives, and no artificial colorings.

“Great-tasting sweets that make you feel good all over.  That’s just how we roll,” says Ruosso.
