Metro Area’s First Environmentally Friendly Cleaners Opens in Gaithersburg, MD
Grand opening of Perren’s Greener Cleaners, www.perrensgreenercleaners.com, the area’s first and only completely eco-friendly cleaners of garments kicks off 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 27.
“We’re the first cleaners in the area to be completely 100% environmentally friendly,” says owner Kevin Perren. Perren’s Greener Cleaners uses water-based solvents, biodegradable soaps and conditioners in a wet-cleaning, odorless process to clean clothing, coats, rugs and household items, he explains. “Garments are cleaner, fresher and softer, and there’s no chemical odor,” he says. “Tests by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency have proven our cleaners are entirely harmless to your health and friendly to our environment.”

To reduce the carbon footprint of area workers, the firm offers pick-up and delivery and offers commercial and business discount programs to encourage participation. Recycled cardboard holders to collect wire hangers are available for clients, and Perren’s offers special discounts when a container filled with hangers is returned. Rather than utilize paper, Perren’s Greener Cleaners has embraced electronic communications and sends its news to customers through email and its Facebook page.
