Follow on Google News | Rebuilding Broken Places CDC Celebrates Fifteen Years of Work in the CommunityBoard members of Rebuilding Broken Places Community Development Corporation (RBPCDC) will host our Fifteenth Anniversary Celebration with a Carnival and Open House to be held at 2105 North William Street on Saturday, July 23, 2011 from 10:am - 4:pm.
By: Rebuilding Broken Places CDC The event will feature Carnival Games and Prizes, Inflatables, Basketball, Football Throw, Hoola Hoop, Soccer Kick, Jump Rope, Sack Race, Tot’s Trike Race, Wii Dance Contests; Face Painting; Dunking Booth; Arts and Crafts and much more. Carnival food favorites will include Italian Sausage Subs and Fried Kool-Aid. Advance passes for all activities (food & drinks not included) are $7.00 per person, 2 passes for $10. or 4 passes for $15. A free pass will be given with the purchase of each 15th Anniversary Commemorative T-shirt. The first 100 passes include a free snow cone. RBPCDC is a 501©3 non-profit “faith based” organization committed to the development of the economically distressed urban and rural communities of Goldsboro and Wayne County. RBPCDC is an outreach ministry of Greenleaf Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) who provided over $1.5 million of financing to provide space, furnishings and initial capital for our startup. RBPCDC’s mission implements the strategies of Nehemiah Chapter 2 in the Old Testament for rebuilding the community and the gospel of Luke 4:18 in the New Testament for helping those in need. Our sole purpose has been to raise the social and economic levels of low to moderate income citizens in order to provide long-term quality of life improvements through Project FAITHFORCE (Faithfully Asserting Initiative to Help Families Organize Resources for Community Empowerment) Rev. Dr. William J. Barber, II, board chair, said “our work in this community has been significant. Out initial invest has been used to create jobs, provide affordable housing for families and the elderly, provide quality child care and afterschool programs, and adult educational opportunities as well. With more than $7 million in economic assets created in our community, and countless educational and quality of life improvements, we have only just begun.” The event will include an open house with tours of a home in Faith Estates and NBA Greenleaf Grace Village, Imani Hall, RBP Christian Academy and Child Care Center Tour, and registration for Computer and Financial Education classes. “Come out and celebrate with us. We did not get here on our own.
