Hologram producers met to curb counterfeiting

July 10, 2011 - PRLog -- The Hologram Manufacturers Association of India (HoMAI) a not-for profit organisation held its Annual General Meeting cum conference in New Delhi to address the new developments against counterfeiting.

The HOMAI, President Pradip Shroff said” 2010 was a year of remarkable technical achievements and progress. “The industry is a very strong position, with innovation being driven not only by established hologram companies but also those new to the industry. The new generation hholograms can now combine authentication overt features with covert elements and forensic and track and trace elements to provide a highly effective weapon in the fight against illicit products.

He said” Brands are the biggest intangible assets of an company which are under attack from various angles.  These attacks can be in the form of counterfeiting, tampering, pilfering, etc.  Brand counterfeiting requires specialized protection technologies that HOMAI member companies can offers at customised solution to help them.

At the conference, hologram producers also shared their tips to brand owners for anti-counterfeiting strategy such as;
1.   changes in approach towards brand protection
2.   increasing the participation of co-opting consumer, channel partner
3.   Use a secure anti-counterfeiting device comprising overt, covert & forensic security feature. Examples of such tools are security hologram seal and labels, tamper evident security films, and light-sensitive ink designs.
4.   Monitoring and developing an Intellectual property strategy
