The Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior (JNEB) announces the 2010 Best Article and Best Great Educational Material (GEM) awards to be presented at the Society for Nutrition Education (SNE) annual conference in Kansas City, July 23 – 26.

July 6, 2011 - PRLog -- The Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior (JNEB) announces the 2010 Best Article and Best Great Educational Material (GEM) awards to be presented at the Society for Nutrition Education (SNE) annual conference, “Empowering the Nutrition Gatekeepers: From Parents to Products to Policy,” in Kansas City, July 23 – 26.  These annual awards recognize the authors of the best article and best GEM, published each year in JNEB, as judged by members of the JNEB Board of Editors.  All authors will receive a plaque and the lead authors will receive a monetary award.

The Best Article Award will be presented to authors Tionni R. Wenrich, MS; J. Lynne Brown, PhD, RD; Michelle Miller-Day, PhD; Kevin J. Kelley, PhD; Eugene J. Lengerich, VMD, MS, for their article, “Family Members' Influence on Family Meal Vegetable Choices,” published in the July/August 2010 issue of JNEB. The best article was selected by a committee from 58 published articles, briefs, and reports.

The Best GEM award was presented to Jennifer Bañuelos, MAS; Luz Vera Beccera, MS; M. Jane Heinig, PhD, IBCLC, for “Getting to Know Your Baby: Development of a 6-week Countdown Calendar for Participants in WIC Program,” published in the May/June 2010 supplement issue of JNEB.  GEM’s are resources developed to educate on certain topics or distribute programs to help in the nutrition education field.  The best GEM was selected by a committee from 13 published GEMs.
