Apple’s iPhone and even the iPad will hit stores in October

July 1, 2011 - PRLog -- The general consensus these days is that the iPhone 5 will be released at some point this fall. A new report suggests that both the next generation of Apple’s iPhone and even the iPad will hit stores in October.

Based on “industry sources,” Digitimes is reporting the following:

Taiwan-based companies included in the supply chain for iPhone 5 and iPad 3 have begun to prepare materials for the production of the two devices
Both will be produced in small volumes in August, with the volume picking up in September and October
The iPad 3 has just been added to the production schedule
The iPhone 5’s supply volume is estimated to be around six to seven million units during the third quarter
The iPhone 5 and the iPad 3 will likely be unveiled in September, shipped in October
Apple plans to launch only one model of the new iPhone
Some of these points contradict earlier reports. One example is that Apple was rumored to be releasing two new iPhones this fall, which would consist of one lower-end smartphone for a cheaper price and then the full-fledged successor to the iPhone 4.

However, the Digitimes report also reinforces other stories, including one about how iPhone 5 production will commence in August.

Yet, it’s a bit surprising if Apple did debut another iPad so soon after the second one was only released in March. Not only does that deter from Apple’s typical time frame (although the March roll out did as well), but it’s unusual for Apple to release an iPhone and iPad (and likely a few iPods as it does almost every September) all at the same time.

Although, a recent Lulz Security hack did find leaked information about the iPad 3 pointing towards a debut this fall, but it hasn’t been determined if it is authentic or not.
