June 30, 2011 - PRLog -- Los Angeles - -  A top, prestigious publishing industry award has been given to West Coast author Chad Coenson for his attention-getting sociopolitical sci-fi satire ME AND BOBBY McGEE, which follows former CIA assassin-turned-alcoholic gambler Keesey Cypher, his mysterious femme fatale partner Bobby McGee and a van of stolen babies into Mexico.   Mr. Coenson’s book has earned the Silver Medal, Best Regional Fiction, West-Pacific honor in the 15th annual Independent Publisher Book Awards. Mr. Coenson’s book received the award over several hundred other entrants.

London online reviewer J. Shurin declares, “ME AND BOBBY MCGEE is a bizarre piece of literary, speculative fiction.  It is a darkly comedic road trip in the disturbing legacy of Kurt Vonnegut and Hunter S. Thompson.”

Blogger A. Parker calls it, “a fun, easy read that I thoroughly enjoyed.  It is a fictional social satire with a crazy, unpredictable story and witty observations of our loony society.”

Reviewer TheSANTechnologist effused, “This wonderful young author captured me from the very beginning and held me through the final words with his imaginative writing, underlying political tones and mocking and celebration of humanity—in
what I believe is the realization of a Dali painting in words.”

"His writing is only believed after read. Raw humor embedded in every sentence, a masterpiece of comedic literature. The book is not hard to put down ... it's impossible," wrote reviewer Gary Sorkin of Pacific Book Review in California.

“The main theme here is corporate greed, the commoditization of people in the modern workforce and how we often put our personal desires above what’s good for everyone,” Coenson explains.  “The book shows that indifference and apathy are international.  It seeks to bring attention to serious subjects, but in a humorous way.  I hope that I have written ME AND BOBBY McGEE in a style and voice that are different from what we usually encounter in contemporary fiction.”
