Special Education Teacher Zilinski Wins Scholarship

Melissa Zilinski, special education teacher at Pineland Learning Center (PLC), was awarded a $2,000 scholarship from NAPSEC.
 
June 29, 2011 - PRLog -- Melissa Zilinski, special education teacher at Pineland Learning Center (PLC), was awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the National Association of Private Special Education Centers (NAPSEC) Foundation Diversity Scholarship Program.
Zilinski, a resident of Woodstown, NJ, is scheduled to complete continuing education credits at Rowan University this Fall. She teaches a 12th grade, self-contained classroom at PLC.

“I am extremely grateful to the Foundation Diversity Program for their generosity,” said Zilinski. “The special education field is constantly evolving, so I welcome the opportunity to continue my education and improve my teaching skills for the betterment of my students.”

NAPSEC member programs provide educational therapeutic services to both publicly and privately placed individuals who are not able to be successfully educated in the regular education environment. These services also include infants and toddlers who are served by early intervention service members and postsecondary college experience, and adult living programs that serve individuals who have graduated or who are over 21 and are no longer eligible for services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

Pineland Learning Center, with campuses in Carmel and Vineland, is a private, non-sectarian day school educating at-risk students from kindergarten to twelfth grade from Atlantic, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester, Cape May and Salem Counties. For 30 years, they have designed programs to fulfill the educational, social and emotional needs of their students. The goal of PLC is to help students discover and reach their own level of success.
