Follow on Google News | Mikki brushes up for the first Festival of GroomingMikki, the grooming, training and healthcare expert, is proud to be sponsoring a demonstration and lecture at the inaugural Festival of Grooming by Certified Master Stylist and author, Melissa Verplank.
By: thebluedoor The session will focus on the basic elements of efficient grooming including; tools, products, organisational techniques and mind control. In the presentation, Mikki tools will also be used to demonstrate the grooming techniques. Mikki believes that well groomed means well loved and has recently launched a video (http://www.youtube.com/ 1. Health Check – an essential way to check for any potential problems before grooming and a great way to bond with your pet. Check their ears, eyes, nose, teeth and coat. This is the part where you should make sure there are no irregular lumps or bumps on their bodies and remove all ticks and fleas. 2. Grooming Out – important to remove dead hair. The Mikki Moult Master has been described as “the best de-shedding tool on the market” by Alison Rogers and offers an effortless way to remove dead hair from your pet’s coat. You also need to eliminate any big knots or tangles at this stage. 3. Bathing and Drying – check you have the right shampoo to meet the individual needs of your pet in terms of coat and breed. Mikki produces a range of shampoos for all coats and breeds. When bath time is over make sure you dry your dog’s coat thoroughly by blow drying on a low heat or leaving to stand dry. 4. Cut and Finish – trim your dog’s coat and keep your dog smelling fresh with an appropriate deodorising spray. The Mikki scissors are perfect for trimming down and tidying up your dog. You can use the scissors to ‘design’ your dog to the look of that specific breed. If your dog has a coarse or wiry coat, you can use a Mikki stripping knife instead. This is the perfect stage to ensure your dog smells good as well as looks great. 5. Nails – keep your pet’s nails neat and trim. Leave this stage until last when your pet is relaxed. To avoid the risk of stressing or aggravating your dog, use Mikki's nail clippers which have guards, ensuring you don't cut too close to the quick. You can then use a Pro Nail File for the final step which will finish the process off smoothly. A selection of Mikki products have been made available for the Festival of Grooming goody bags, including the Mikki Anti Tangle Moulting Comb, Slicker Brush and Moult Master. The first Festival of Grooming is taking place on 16th and 17th July at The Belfry in Wisham, Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands. The Festival is designed to promote best practice in the grooming industry and to further the standard and knowledge via grooming demonstrations and informative talks. As well as a programme of talks and demonstrations, the festival will feature an exhibition, gala dinner and model competition.
