Store Locator Wizard makes Multimap and MapPoint migration a doddle

June 23, 2011 - PRLog -- Store Locator Wizard is a simple set of migration tools which allow existing Multimap and MapPoint users, potential Bing Maps users and anyone looking to place store locator information on their own website, to easily and rapidly build and deploy a comprehensive and highly-accurate store locator.

The Store Locator Wizard app was developed by leading Bing Maps specialists, Shoothill Ltd.

“Our solution allows any current Multimap or potential Bing Maps customers to rapidly deploy store locator information on their own website through a simple Wizard - all within a few minutes,” explains Rod Plummer, Managing Director at Shoothill.

“Microsoft’s Multimap and MapPoint Web Services are due to become ‘end of Life’ in November 2011,” says Rod. “As a result, all services and clients will be required to use the Bing Maps API for future mapping and web services. Our Store Locator Wizard is aimed at making that transition easy for end users.”

Store Locator Wizard is free to use and was built on Shoothill’s existing proprietary framework, ‘GeoLiath’. It provides a very simple ‘drag and drop’ experience and enables users to upload their CSV data (which can easily be exported from existing data using common spreadsheet applications) and use their existing column names without the need for any amendments.

Via an intuitive GUI, Store Locator Wizard allows customers to import, edit and mass geo-code their existing address data, configure and tune their chosen map options, select their chosen layout and output style and easily export the newly created Store Locator code and data ready to be placed directly into a website.

As well as displaying address fields such as street, city and postcode, Store Locator Wizard gives users the option to highlight selected fields to provide extra information within their store finder, such as store opening times and parking information. Once imported, the user has a high degree of control in geo-coding their data so that the data they present to their customers is accurate, right down to roof-top level.

“Store Locator Wizard gives the client total control in making sure their stores are accurately presented by simply dragging and dropping a pin to the exact location, which is then instantly recorded and reflected in the active grid,” said Plummer. “The application is focused on providing the functionality of traditionally complex tools in a simple-to-use web interface.”

Web developers can login to make changes or updates to their existing configuration or datasets, as well as adding walking and driving directions, and select their chosen output style ready for instant deployment on their website.

Luke Gregory, Marketing Manager for Bing Maps EMEA, said: “Shoothill have produced a fantastic tool that directly addresses a large opportunity within our marketplace. As I have come to expect from Shoothill, the tool is intuitive, well thought-out and ultimately makes what is quite a technical process, quick and easy.”
