June 22, 2011 - PRLog -- Sending your child to school looking smart is a costly pursuit.

New shoes and sharp blazers don't come cheap, but thanks to a bargain range from Tesco, you could get your children spruced up with a full set of new wares for as little as £3.60.
Launched yesterday, the value range from the world's third largest retailer offers a one price fits all array of clothing for ages three to 16.

This year there are over 80 Back to School uniform items across its Value, Core, Signature and Fairtrade ranges.

Normally priced at £4.50 there is an extra 20 per cent off the collection running throughout June, making it the cheapest option on the high street.
Sainsbury’s is the closest rival with ensembles starting at £6 while Asda's range from £8 and Marks & Spencer from £11.
Jan Marchant, Tesco Clothing Buying Director said: ‘Parents like different price options for Back to School and our Value range offers them a fantastic quality product.
Bargain buys: Alisha wears sweatshirt £2, polo shirt 75p and skirt £1.75

‘We are pleased to offer our customers a whole school uniform at the lowest possible price, and certainly the most competitive price on the high street.’
Essential Back to School includes items such as shirts, polo shirts, socks and briefs.
The set of a polo shirt, sweatshirt and skirt or trousers is down from last year, when the chain’s Value school gear was £3.75.
Eileen Prior, executive director of the Scottish Parent Teacher Council, commented that costly school uniforms can be a big pressure for parents.
She told the Scotsman: ‘There is a general acceptance that everything is going up in terms of parents paying for their child's education - whether it is uniforms, trips or paying for materials.

‘But when it comes to uniforms, there is certainly quite a lot of debate.
‘Parents are generally in favour of a dress code. They want to see their youngsters turn out looking smart.’
This move could help boost profits for the supermarket giant which recently missed first quarter sales forecasts.
Chief executive Philip Clarke, who took up the position in March, said: ‘Uncertainties remain but, with early encouraging signs of better performance emerging in both the UK and the US, I am confident that this start will provide the platform for another year of growth.’
