Businessman and Veteran Launches Primary Bid for Malta Town Supervisor's Race

Ray Patterson of Malta, NY, announced his candidacy for Malta Town Supervisor. Patterson's supporters are circulating nominating petitions for a Republical primary bid against the incumbent.
 
June 22, 2011 - PRLog -- Ray Patterson, 58, of Malta, NY, announced his candidacy today for Malta Town Supervisor. Patterson's supporters are circulating nominating petitions for a Republican primary bid against incumbent Supervisor Paul Sausville in this Saratoga County town, home to the Luther Forest Technology Campus, which includes Global Foundries.      
           
"We have many choices to make as citizens of Malta," Patterson says. "We can embrace the opportunities and develop properties to accommodate the influx of businesses, related services and associated citizens. We can do this and still maintain the open spaces and local farms if we engage in open dialogue and utilize the strengths of all Malta citizens. Accomplishing this will take a different style of leadership."

Patterson is a founding principal and the President of Capital Consulting Group, LLC, located in Ballston Spa. He is a seasoned management consultant, business advisor, educator and entrepreneurial catalyst for companies, organizations, communities and individuals who want to thrive during today' rapidly changing, customer-driven marketplace. His areas of expertise include strategic thinking and planning, team building, training and the facilitation of organizational agility, which he defines as "the ability to thrive in an environment of continuous, unanticipated change"” Patterson is a certified trainer/facilitator for the Corporation for Positive Change – Appreciative Leadership Development Program(c).

Patterson's work experience started with five years of active military experience in Logistics Management and Computer Science followed by 13 years of civilian service with the U.S. Army in Logistics Management at the Watervliet Arsenal where he was responsible for all logistics at the nation's Cannon Production Facility. He served on a Joint Services team to evaluate and promote logistics initiatives to improve logistics throughout the Department of Defense (DoD).

Following his civilian service to the DoD, Patterson joined the Agility Forum, located at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA, where he led the Small and Medium Enterprise Initiatives for the Agility Forum as well as being the coordinator for Federally funded Agility Projects for the Forum. He left the Agility Forum in 1996 to devote full time to his consulting practice.

Patterson holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture with a Business minor from Eastern Kentucky University.

Patterson grew up on a 314-acre dairy farm in eastern Ohio. Throughout his youth, he was active in 4-H, Farm Bureau Youth and the Future Farmers of America (FFA). He received his State Farmer degree, was runner up in the Ohio State FFA extemporaneous public speaking contest his senior year of high school and was elected as the State FFA Treasurer for the 1971-72 term. As a result, he delayed college for a year as he traveled the state, speaking to FFA chapters throughout the state, motivating students and parents to define their dreams and achieve their goals.

"My personal experience and life's work has been about developing and providing leadership and facilitation skills to assist people in defining their dreams and visions and assisting them in achieving their goals and aspiration," Patterson says. "My run for supervisor of Malta isn't about what I want for the town, but rather my desire to lead the people of Malta to define what we all want. I want to assist the current and future citizens to define and create the type of town that celebrates our heritage and at the same time creates a town that has a bright and vibrant future. I want to then set up the processes and procedures to enable that vision to come to full life."

Patterson and his wife, Martha, have been Malta residents for over 20 years.  They have two children and three grandchildren.
