June 22, 2011 - PRLog -- Sometimes simple is the best way to go. NYC's neo-grunge trio Baby Teardrops' latest video (though the first one they'd ever shot together) for the catchy "ME Where" focuses on the band members and places them in a stark, industrial environment. Wielding cardboard instruments (created by bassist Megan Thomas), Matthew Dunehoo (lead vocals/guitar), Gerry White (drums) and Thomas, march past barbed wire fences and along rust stained sidewalks. This bare setup allows the three to shine, showing viewers their personalities. Filmed by Filip Kasperaszek (director) and Ita Zbroniec Zajt (director of photography) on a morning in Bushwick, the shoot was relatively painless (except for the cold). Dunehoo says of the experience, "I was proud of everyone for getting over to my house so early in the morning. It was over as soon as it'd begun. We were singing along to an iPod about 40 feet away, I'm surprised the lip-syncing looks as accurate as it does. Such a cold morning!". Dunehoo had worked with Kasperaszek and Zajt earlier that month on a short film called The Story About Ian (http://www.storyaboutian.com/), and did the video for the band as a favor for his acting in their film. "Filip and Ita are both such pros. They made it easy," says Dunehoo. "ME Where" is available now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kS46CN-G8g
"ME Where" can be found on Baby Teardrops' recently released debut album, X is for Love, which contains ten tracks full of driving, propulsive rhythm and hypnotic mantras. Like the burst of energy that comes from colliding particles, Dunehoo, Thomas and White derive their sound from clash and collision of distinct personalities. Elements from across the spectrum of emotion can be found on the album; the joyous and beautiful crashing into the difficult and painful with a collection of songs that sound like that of a grunged-out New Pornographers if they met The Pixies.
X is for Love has garnered praise from MAGNET (their video, "Smooth Sailing Ahead" was featured on Film at 11), The Deli ("The band revisits the sound of the 90s in a poppier, less abrasive and rather sophisticated way.") and Blogcritics ("Musically, Baby Teardrops have a great multi-layered sound with reverberating guitars and hypnotic basslines that blend perfectly with Dunehoo's distinctive vocals.").
