Marge Norman Wins Hospice at Home Volunteer Award

June 2, 2011 - PRLog -- Hospice at Home in South Haven honored its volunteers at a Friends of Hospice luncheon in May and presented the Helen White Angel of Service Award to volunteer, Marge Norman.

The Helen White Angel of Service Award was established by the South Haven Area Hospice Foundation Board to recognize those individuals who have shown exemplary service in the area of volunteering.  Helen White was one of South Haven Area Hospice founding board members and devoted many hours of service during her association with hospice.  Helen was honored and recognized upon her retirement in June 2004 with the establishment of this award in her name.  She has since passed away. Betty Bregger received the award in 2005, Elaine Fluck in 2006, Bill Rockhold in 2007, Wes Stephens in 2008, Mike Henry in 2009, and Judy Ison in 2010.

The 2011 Helen White Angel of Service Award winner, Marge Norman, has volunteered for Hospice at Home since 2002.  She served on the South Haven Hospice Foundation Board, and is currently a patient care volunteer providing respite care, transportation, and companionship. She is also a Pet Peace of Mind volunteer, providing care and placement for pets of hospice patients. Marge is also very active on the Hospice at Home Wine and Beer Tasting Benefit, the Hospice at Home Holiday Homes Tour and serves as a community advocate for end-of-life care at local health/senior fairs.

Hospice at Home volunteers offer warm hearts, listening ears, and compassion to patients and their families. Trained patient care volunteers serve patients and their families by offering respite, friendly visits, writing letters, running errands, providing transportation, and so much more. Other volunteers help with clerical tasks, special events, and other interesting projects. Volunteers choose how much time to give to Hospice at Home based on their availability.
