Samuel Markus plays a man who sees the ghost of a lover lost (played by partner Jennifer Thorington) which sets him on a quest for truth that has him looking at mysterious charts and ancient texts. In the end, a small tome, entitled The Quickening seems to provide an answer, but it is one which the viewer must discover themselves. Start your journey here: http://www.youtube.com/ When you get out of your own way and let ideas flow, there is no limit to the things you will create. LA’s The Morning Birds, masters of synthesizing influences and inspiration, is following this philosophy and reaping the rewards. The duo’s second LP, The Quickening, which came out April 26, aims to pass that inspiration on to listeners worldwide with passionate, soulful and uplifting songs. The Quickening is a study in the power of contrast. While forming an uncanny mixture of sounds that embrace unlikely sources, the band’s sound is both familiar and mysterious, groovy yet mellow, profound but fun. It is often times ground breaking. Their powerful bass lines, lush harmonies and soulful strings are complimented by break beats, trumpets, and cascading piano while Thorington and Markus’ vocals unfold into a gentle blend as if Imogen Heap met Andre 3000. Praise for The Morning Birds CMJ offers The Morning Birds' "The Quickening" as free download "It is one of those records that has gradually grown and grown on us and is full of lovely harmonies and rich, warm instrumentation that reminds us of duos like She & Him, but is altogether more joyful and uplifting..." On "Heart's Desire": "This is a little gentler and the soft harmonies really stand out above the rhythmic drumming that seemingly ensures the pace is kept up before we softly drift away to something quite beautiful." —Beehive Candy "The duo of Jennifer Thorington and Samuel Markus have created one of the most creative independent music groups of the last two years. The Morning Birds' debut album, "Inspiration Point" garnished them as one of the NRG Theory 'Artist Picks Of The Week'." —My Record Journal "The two are a perfect complement to each other, weaving in and out of the others vocals and instrumentation, sharing verses and harmonizing on any chorus...They have the pure joy of life present in Matt and Kim, the polish of She and Him and the intensity of the White Stripes." —Reviews and the Rest # # # A publicity company with the highest level of passion, honesty, and integrity, while simultaneously successfully launching the careers of independent musicians.
