Battle of the Blondes: Which Diva Will Rule 2011?

Four stunning blondes who have all become powerful forces in the music industry.  These four flaxen vixens defy all the "dumb blonde" jokes, but who is the fairest of them all?  Music fans should enjoy a truly epic battle of the blondes; a conflict made even more interesting because these four pop goddesses not only share vocal similarities, but also have large fan bases of loyal devotees waiting to hear new notes from these chart-topping lasses.

A new arrival on the scene, Darcy Donavan, is making her mark as one of the next generation of grassroots megastars, like Justin Beiber. With her new television reality show in the works, and massive dedicated fan following, she may give Lady Gaga and Ms. Britney a run for their money in 2011.

Gaga and Spears each released compilation albums in 2009 (Gaga's The Fame Monster and Britney's second greatest-hits collection, The Singles Collection), but never have their releases come at the same time, as they will this year. Donavan is set to release her newest single, “State of Shock,” with her full album, Distraction to follow.  Meanwhile, Britney has a follow-up single “Till the World Ends,” that just dropped earlier this month.

But hold on, music lovers, because Christina Aguilera is not quite out of the running yet.   The Grammy winner had been mocked for her 2011 Grammy fall, for botching "The Star-Spangled Banner" during a live performance, and for getting arrested for being publicly intoxicated.  But Christina has hit the comeback highway recently with her role on the top television show “The Voice,” and will be featured in an exhibition at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

So, which bombshell will rise to the top of the heap? We asked fans & critics to weigh in.

“Honestly, They all have really large fan bases so at this point it is anybody’s race. Gaga has her little monsters, Britney & Christina’s fans have never let them down and Darcy Donavan’s growing ‘Lil’ Family’ is taking the internet and radio request lines by storm,” claims Tom Duncan of Reverbnation.

How does a newbie like Darcy compete with a vet like Britney? Dylan Nelson of Reel Vision Entertainment explained that Donavan is actually in a great place to do it. "She's got a fresh start," he said. "People will be surprised by Darcy’s talent.  At this point, Britney’s baggage is a net negative in the music marketplace.”    As far as Lady Gaga goes, Nelson feels that her unpredictability makes it impossible to figure out where her career is headed next.

Christina’s going to have a lot of work to get back in the running. We are all waiting to see what she does next to get back on the pop music bandwagon.  "The thing with Britney and Christina that helps them so much is that they’ve been around for so long that people are invested in their narrative. Even when the records are so-so, they still have the desire to see them succeed as an individuals," Mr. Nelson said.

Who will prevail in the battle of Brains, Brawn and Blonde? Everyone has an opinion, but we’ll just have to wait and find out.
