May 19, 2011 - PRLog -- 1. Education - Putting the knowledge in the hands of consumers is one of the most effective ways of battling bed bugs.  Outside of New York and Ohio many people don't actually know that bed bugs exists, much less what they look like, how to prevent them, where they came from, etc...
2. Encasements - Mattress and box spring encasements serve multiple purposes.  Most notably they eliminate hiding places, which helps fight infestations.
3. Canine Inspection - Rather than tearing apart a room, canines are being use to sniff out the exact hiding spots of bed bugs.  This save time and money, eliminating the costs of unnecessary treatments.  (Note: Canines inspectors should not work for a pest control company, as it is a conflict of interest)
4. Multi-Step Treatments - Treatment methods should be extensive and often include; barrier treatments, sealing of outlets and baseboards, foaming large cracks, encasements, initial treatment, 7 day follow-up treatment (hatched eggs)
5. Green Solutions - Heat treatments are becoming more common around the country and may or may not include subsequent pesticide.  Green chemicals are also more available.
6. Follow-up Canine Inspections - Using canines to verify a treatment was successful is the best method.  This method is also used to verify that problems have not spread to adjacent properties after treatment is complete.  When problems have spread, the canine identifies the infestation before it becomes a problem.
7. Annual Sweeps - Using canines (bed bug dogs) in hotels and apartments to clear the property at a minimum of one time per year is one of the best methods to mitigate liability.  If you ever end up in court, this practice may be the difference between winning and losing.

Whether you operate a hotel, apartment, rental, restaurant, theatre, church, retail business or pest control company, Inspector Hound is your partner in the battle against bed bugs.  Unlike traditional pest control, Inspector Hound only offers canine scent detection.
