May 19, 2011 - PRLog -- e Skills Minimod Context Clues - Cloze Practice helps students improve reading comprehension by using syntactic (sounds right) and semantic (makes sense) clues. The passages in this app are written in cloze format. The paragraphs help students improve language, vocabulary, and reading comprehension skills.

Ways to Play

Practice Level The student will read a story with five to seven blanks. The reader's job is to select the best word (of four given words) to complete the sentence giving sense to the story. An incorrect response allows the student to read the passage again and select another answer.

Single Player The student plays a bingo-like game against the computer. Choosing the word that best adds meaning to the story allows the student to place a marker on the game card. 5 markers in a pattern win the game.

Multi Player The student plays a bingo-like game against another student. The first student to fill his/her game card with 5 markers in a pattern wins the game.
