Star Athletes, Celebrity Chef Join KIP Ways Academy in Mentoring Students to Stay F.O.C.U.S

May 16, 2011 - PRLog -- What:   KIP Ways Academy and the F.O.C.U.S. Foundation believe in impacting the lives  of youths by showing them that they are full of purpose and potential. F.O.C.U.S along with Tyrone Poole of the Tennessee Titans, retired football star Eddie Wilkins and Celebrity Chef Jason Ellis from Season 7 “Hell’s Kitchen will be having a sit down lunch and mentoring session. Students Asha Scott and John Ross will receive valuable knowledge and mentoring from Wilkins and Poole while enjoying a delectable lunch prepared by Chef Ellis.

Why:    In 2009, the F.O.C.U.S. Foundation began the Girls Leadership Program, a mentoring and leadership development program, at KIPP West Atlanta Young Scholars Academy ("KIPP WAYS"). On April 22, 2011, Girls Leadership Program held its first Think Big You Are What You Think You Are Career Day Program. During this program, guest speaker Carla Byrd was hosted by student ambassador, Asha Scott. In speaking to one of the classes, Ms. Byrd also met John Ross. The eloquence and diligence of these students greatly inspired Ms. Byrd in such a way that she was led to give back to these students by bringing in Poole and Wilkins to mentor and inspire
