Dr. V Judging at the Conrad Foundation’s Innovation Summit

She was a judge at the Conrad Foundation where high school students were competing for a grant of venture capital. The Conrad Foundation is a not-for-profit foundation designed to energize and engage students in science and technology through project-based learning. By enabling young minds to connect education, innovation and entrepreneurship, the Conrad Foundation provides a bold platform for enriching imagination and innovative thinking. The teams were made up of very advanced thinking high school students from around the world seeking to solve problems in aerospace exploration, cyber security, and clean energy. Students had to build a viable technical solution and a business plan for bringing their vision to market. “This is not an easy task for anyone, much less a high school team. These students are truly impressive,” noted Dr. Amy Vanderbilt, Trend POV’s Chief Strategist.

Finalists competed to receive a “Next Step Grant” of $5000 and to be recognized as Pete Conrad Scholars. The “Next Step Grant” will be shared by the schools, teachers and students to encourage the continued development of the teams’ products. “Programs like the Conrad Foundation's Innovation Summit are what make a difference in the technical talent pipelines of companies like sponsor Lockheed Martin, and others. Companies should take note, and follow suit," added Dr. Vanderbilt.  “I can't wait to help out again next year."
