Independent Film Company goes 3D

May 8, 2011 - PRLog -- Hocus Focus Productions has been producing independent horror and sci-fi movies for over a decade.  During that time the trends and technologies have changed a great deal and small companies have strived to keep up.  From distributing movies on VHS for home video, to DVD and digital HD streaming video, the little video production company has kept up with the trends.  Their newest goal is get as many of the movies in the Hocus Focus Productions library in 3D and online.  Meanwhile they plan on shooting their next in 3D.

"We're using the old school red and blue anaglyph method of 3D," explains Jason Liquori, the owner and operator of Hocus Focus Productions.  "It requires less of an investment on the part of the consumer and I like that.  3D TVs are coming into their own, but until they do people will be able to watch our films in 3D right on their computer monitor or any color television with a pair of inexpensive red and blue 'glasses'."

So far Liquori has managed to convert about 10 of the company's titles and one web series, "The Simplest Things" into 3D.  They've also converted some classics over to add value to the 3D specs people will be buying to view their movies.  Currently, some titles are being offered for free at http://www.bcinema.tv and others will be premiering as part of a 3D drive at http://www.hocfocprod.com/Free3Dmovies

The company is also offering special rates for other indies wanting to convert films to 3D and has begun producing videos in High Definition 3D from the pre-production stage.  "You get a much better effect shooting in 3D to begin with," explains Liquori.  "Creating depth with the conversion process is easy and some things do 'pop out' of the screen, but planning on how you shoot a 3D sequence and using 2 cameras and lots of contrast really adds to the 3D effect, especially when working with the anaglyph process."
