Constance Reese crowned Miss Black California USA

May 8, 2011 - PRLog -- Southern California beauty Constance Reese was recently named Miss Black California 2011. The Miss Black California Organization is apart of the Miss Black USA Organization which specializes in providing scholarship opportunities to women of color. "The fact that the mission of the Miss Black USA Organization includes encouraging young women to take an active role in their education, community, and healthy living is something that greatly appealed to me" Constance states regarding her inspiration to compete in the pageant. "I feel tremendously blessed and honored to be apart of a system that truly values progression and demonstrates that through action" she says. Constance is an early graduate from UCLA where she received her BA from their School of Theater, Film, & Television and minored in African-American studies. Reese has a passion for the arts as well as a thirst for learning about her history. While at UCLA reported for UCLA TV, directed a student run theater program, was acitive in the Big Brother/Big Sister mentoring program, and maintained a position on the deans list. She recently starred as Michelle Obama in the hit political satire "Oh Momma & Obama" at the Fremont Theater in Pasadena.


    This Antelope Valley, California native is the first from the area to acquire the coveted title and is excited to represent her home state. As the newly crowned Miss Black California, Constance will move forward in her efforts to bring awareness to pertinent issues affecting the community including: positive images of women of color in the media, youth awarness of sickle cell anemia, and the truth behind heart disease. A life long community service advocate, mentor, and motivational speaker- Ms. Reese is excited about having a stronger impact and traveling the state while discussing these issues. Constance Reese is ecstatic to represent the state of California in the Miss Black USA pageant in Washington, D.C. in August.
