SMART Recovery Special Event Featuring Dr. Michael Edelstein, author of Three Minute Therapy

May 6, 2011 - PRLog -- SMART Recovery® is pleased to announce that as a public service event, Dr. Michael Edelstein will join us on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 12:00 pm EST to speak about SMART Recovery and its foundation in REBT (Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy), as set forth by Dr. Albert Ellis.  This will be a one-hour session in the SMART Voice Meeting Room of SMART Recovery Online. Dr. Edelstein will focus a large portion of the time on Q&A.

Dr. Michael R. Edelstein is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 30 years’ experience and has a private practice in San Francisco, offering in-person as well as telephone sessions, and he is a SMART Recovery Professional Advisor.  He is the author of Three Minute Therapy: Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life a self-help book for overcoming common emotional and behavioral problems.  This fantastic and truly accessible book is available through the SMART Recovery Amazon Bookstore links on our website and message boards: Three Minute Therapy.  Dr. Edelstein was awarded Author of the Year for this book, and Dr. Albert Ellis personally endorsed it as follows:  "Of all the books that explain [Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy] in simple, clear, and highly usable form, Three Minute Therapy is one of the very best. The authors include the main theories and practices and specifically tell you how to apply them to your own problems."

Dr. Edelstein is a Training Supervisor and Fellow of the Albert Ellis Institute. He holds a diplomate in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy from, and is on the Board of Advisors of, the National Association of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapists. He is Past President of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy.  In addition, Dr. Edelstein lectures nationally and internationally, has appeared on television as well as over 300 radio shows, trains professionals, and has published in psychological journals.  He is the creator of a five-step audiocassette weight-management program, and has produced tapes used for training psychotherapists. He writes the advice column, "Ask Dr. Mike," which appears in the San Francisco Intelligencer.
