Seminar focuses on CE Marking

May 5, 2011 - PRLog -- This marking is the visible symbol showing that the manufacturer has taken all the necessary measures to ensure that the product complies with the applicable safety legislation that entered into force at the beginning of 2010.

The European Commission is carrying out a campaign on the CE marking to raise awareness and understanding of the meaning behind the marking and the purpose of its use. This campaign is primarily directed at SMEs, business and professional associations, the media, consumers, and the general public.

As part of this pan-European campaign, the European Commission today held an informative seminar at the InterContinental Malta, St. Julian’s, entitled ‘CE Marking Makes Europe’s Market Yours’. The Hon. Dr. Chris Said, Parliamentary Secretary for Consumers, Fair Competition, Local Councils and Public Dialogue delivered the opening address to the seminar.

Other speakers included Ing. Francis Farrugia, Chairman of the Malta Standards Authority; Dr. Angelo Chetcuti, Press and Political Officer, EC Representation in Malta; Inspector Joseph Chetcuti, Head of the Customs Department’s Express Freight Office and Ms. Judith Weber, Playmobil Malta’s ISO Lead Auditor & Management Representative. The seminar was chaired by Mr. William Martin, Head of the European Commission Representation in Malta.
