Egemin Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) System Delivers in Hollywood

May 3, 2011 - PRLog -- HOLLAND, MICHIGAN – Egemin recently installed Packmobile automated guided vehicle systems at Deluxe Laboratories in Hollywood, California and Toronto, Canada. The Packmobile AGVs transport thousands of feature length movie 35mm film reels at each facility.

The Packmobile automatic guided vehicles contain custom stainless steel fixtures that are designed to securely hold 1,000-pounds of 35mm film. The National Association of Theater Owners states that the number of indoor movie screens in the United States as of December 2009 is 38,605. On average, a feature length film is made up of seven 35mm reels. With those numbers, the Packmobile AGVs are kept very busy.

The addition of automated guided vehicles to Deluxe’s 35mm film processing has resulted in labor savings, improved ergonomics and better delivery reliability. Prior to the Packmobile AGVs, personnel were required to push heavy racks of reels between developing and imprinting, duplication, warehousing and shipping departments. Today, many of the movies you see at your local theater have taken a ride on Egemin’s Packmobile automated guided vehicle.
