DSA Elementary Plans Community Fair

DSA Elementary in Oklahoma City will be holding its inaugural Community Fair on May 7th from 11a.m. to 5p.m. Included in the event are games, multi-cultural food booths, trade show booths and a Spanish Olympiad. Admission is free.
 
April 30, 2011 - PRLog -- May 7th, DSA Elementary will hold their inaugural Community Fair. The event will be a fundraiser to support playground improvements.
The Fair will include several activities:

•Games – Game bracelets are available for $5 which allow children to play unlimited games during the carnival hours of 11a.m. – 5p.m. Games will include ring toss, football throw, tic-tac-toe and Space Walks to name a few.

•Spanish Olympiad – Students from both the Elementary and High School will compete in the areas of dance, music, singing, art and poetry. Winners will go on to compete in a state competition. The Olympiad will begin at 4p.m.

•Health Fair – Visitors will have an opportunity to have their blood glucose measured, blood pressure evaluated and heart rate taken. Dental Depot also will be on hand to teach children about good oral health care.

•Trade Show – Approximately 25 local merchants will have booths with a variety of products as well as information on local services.

•Multi-Cultural Food – Patrons will be able to buy food tickets for $1 each and enjoy a variety of fare. Food varieties include: Mexican, Italian, French, Turkish as well as American Soul Food.

•Chain of Health – DSA Elementary students are building a Chain of Health to donate to the VA Hospital. Each link on the chain will be sold for $1. Links are available now at the school, located at 4901 N. Lincoln, if anyone would like to donate prior to the Fair.

“We are so excited about the Community Fair. The students and parents have been working hard to ensure we have a successful event,” said PTO President, Amber Hallaba.
Along with all the other events, a fire truck, ambulance, police car and Bureau of Narcotics vehicle will be at the school. Representatives will be available for children to talk to and ask questions about the particular careers.

The Community Fair will begin at 11a.m. and run until 5p.m. Admission is free and parking is available at Metro Tech.  “There will be a lot of different activities that the entire family will enjoy,” stated PTO Parent/Teacher Liaison Valerie Carter. “I know everyone who attends will have a great time.”
