The Victim by Alieu Bundu - Now Available

April 26, 2011 - PRLog -- The Victim is about a 14-year-old girl named Maseray whose aunt brings to the city from a Village in the Northern part of Sierra Leone under the pretense of sending her to school. Upon arriving in the city, she unveils her real motive of bringing the girl to the city as a domestic servant as well as to find money for her. In the process, three ruffians rape her, impregnating her and infecting her with HIV/AIDS.

Returned home after being driven away by her aunt, Maseray faced a lot of stigmatization from her friends and community. They abused and victimized her and her mother to such an extent that she became frustrated and decided to put her life to a sword. She was unable to accomplish her mission, for she was rescued by Mariatu, an 18-year-old girl from the city who suffered from the same illness and gave her a reason to live. Through Mariatu's guidance and support, Maseray is able to reconcile with her people and community.
