The John Ed Mathison Leadership Ministries is an organization with “a major objective to provide training opportunities for young pastors.” Dr. Mathison founded the organization in 2008, after retiring as senior minister from Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church in Montgomery, AL, one of the fastest growing churches in Alabama. In 2006, The Church Reporter magazine recognized Frazer as the 25th most influential church in America. “I have known Dr. Mathison for more than 40 years,” says Rev. Thomas Butts, minister emeritus of First United Methodist Church in Monroeville, AL. “Dr. Mathison is an outstanding preacher because what he says and how he says it is a genuine reflection of how he lives his personal life. His sermons are simple and easy to understand, but profound because they are Biblically grounded and applicable to everyday life.” Dr. Mathison will preach three worship services on May 1 at 8:15, 9:30 and 11:00 AM in the FUMC of Arlington Sanctuary. He will also provide a keynote address, open to the public, at 7:30 PM on May 2 as part of the Evangelism Conference and Preaching Academy held May 2 - 4. Author of seven books, Dr. Mathison is also a nationally sought-after speaker. He holds bachelor's degrees from Huntingdon College and Candler School of Theology, a master's degree from Princeton University, and the Doctor of Ministry Degree from Candler School of Theology. # # # Established in 1878, First United Methodist Church of Arlington is a historic church and vital part of Arlington.
