The fourth day of Sri Brahmahotsava festival at ISKCON Bangalore

The fourth day of Sri Brahmahotsava festival at ISKCON, Bangalore on the 18th of April, 2011 was another captivating experience, commencing with a yagna which is a Nitya puja.

April 22, 2011 - PRLog -- Come dusk, and Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Krishna Chandra adorned in Mohini Alankara took a ride on the Hamsa Vahana. The Hamsa or swan is a Vedic symbol of the realized soul. Devotees thronged eagerly for a darshana, and enthusiastically chanted the maha-mantra while pulling the vahana. Cymbals, mrindangas, fireworks, rangoli - patterned pathway and showers of colourful flowers created an ambience of a royal procession.

The deity of Krishna was dressed in Mohini murthi alankara depicting the pastime of Lord Krishna taking the form of Mohini, an enchanting damsel. During the epic churning of the milk ocean, Dhanavanthri, a plenary portion of the Lord appeared with a pot of nectar in his hand for which the demons and the devatas alike were vying.

Finally, the demons got hold of this pot of nectar but being demoniac by nature, they began to fight amongst themselves. Lord Krishna then intervened by taking the form of a beautiful maiden, Mohini. Anticipating the lustful nature of the demons, Mohini seduced the demons and took the pot of nectar and distributed it among the devatas who rightly deserved it. Srimati Radharani was adorned in Astabhuja Lakshmi Alankara, with different weapons in each of her eight hands.

Resplendent in the Mohini Alankara, the Lord then witnessed a Bharatanatyam performance by artistes from Nritya Kala Mandiram. Maharaja Swati Thirunal’s Bhavayami Raghuraman is a complete narration of the Ramayana, beginning with King Dasharatha’s sacrifice to beget children.

The artistes skillfully depicted the prominent episodes of the Ramayana, including the swayamvara of Sita, the exile of Rama, Hanuman’s meeting with Rama, the burning of Lanka and the killing of Ravana.

This was followed by a melodious rendition of bhajans by devotees of ISKCON Bangalore while Dolotsava seva was offered to the Lord. Gently rocking the Lord seated in a riotously colorful swing with silken rope, the devotees were left bedazzled.

His Holiness Harshananda Swami of Ramakrishna Mutt, and His Holiness Soumyanathananda Swami, junior pontiff of Adichunchungiri Mutt, graced the dolotsava ceremony as the chief guests.
