Follow on Google News | ![]() Nickerson named new Program Director of Founders CottageProfessional case worker joins Legacy Counseling Center staff to manage specialized Dallas AIDS facility
Nickerson was formerly a site supervisor with Health Services of North Texas in Plano, where she directly supervised and consulted with case managers and interns. She previously served as a medical case manager for the agency, advising and counseling many HIV-positive individuals. Nickerson is also a parenting facilitator for the Child Family Guidance Center in Dallas, educating parents on self-esteem, anger management, stress management, abuse, and parenting styles skills. "Brooke brings a unique blend of practical knowledge and thorough understanding of the realities and challenges of managing a non-profit organization that's hard to find in most people," said Legacy Counseling Center Executive Director Melissa Grove. "Her professional experience in helping others with substance abuse, mental health issues, and other needs will really help us grow in all areas at Legacy even beyond the Cottage itself." Nickerson is a graduate of Texas Woman’s University in Denton where she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society for social workers. Nickerson later received a Master of Science in Social Work from Texas A&M University – Commerce. Nickerson is originally from Amarillo and now resides in Dallas.
