Enormous Turn Out Underscores Pent-Up Demand for SGC’s Expansion into the West Valley

April 14, 2011 - PRLog -- Scottsdale, Ariz., April 14, 2011 –    Last weekend’s unexpected rain, wind and unseasonably cold temperatures did not stop massive crowds from showing up for the Grand Opening of SGC | Peoria, The Scottsdale Gun Club’s (SGC) newest Arizona retail location.   More than 1,300 people participated in the grand opening celebration over the weekend, eagerly welcoming SGC to Peoria and learning about the future plans for the shooting range, which upon completion, will be the nation’s largest public indoor shooting range.  

“That was an extraordinary turn-out for a retail location opening and one that I will never forget,” said Chris Schnieper, President of SGC | Global Industries. “We were expecting a few hundred of our loyal supporters to show up despite the rain and wind but with the inclement weather I did not think we’d top 1,300 in such a short timeframe.  This is a record breaking opening turn out for us and it speaks volumes about the interest in the SGC offering.”    

“People just kept arriving and the crowd really didn’t start to subside until the end of the Saturday public event,” added Ron Kennedy, General Manager of SGC | Peoria.  “It was definitely a day to remember and one for our record books.”

People began lining up at the outdoor plaza entrance well before the grand opening festivities started.  As the doors opened, crowds continued to pour in, anxious for their first glimpse of the newest retail store and architectural plans for the upcoming shooting range facility. Nearly twice the size of the original Scottsdale Gun Club, upon completion SGC | Peoria will be a massive 60,000 square-foot facility featuring a total of 56 lanes, including a 12 lane, 100 yard indoor rifle range.

Situated on the northeast corner of 83rd Avenue and Thunderbird in Peoria, the new retail store was praised for its convenient location, impressive selection of top gear and firearms and a full range of tactical accessories, ammo, scopes, holsters, knives, gun safes, and much more.  

Highlighting the event were vendor demos, prize giveaways and activities.   Local council members, Chamber of Commerce representatives and key members of the community participated in the commemorative ribbon cutting ceremony.

In addition, a fundraising effort during the Grand Opening festivities resulted in an $820 donation to Fighter Country Partnership.   SGC|Peoria sold commemorative bricks that will line the future shooting range.   For more information, please visit online at www.sgc-peoria.com
