Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog-Live Casting Announced

First San Diego production of Joss Whedon Internet sensation to run during Comic-Con 2011 in July
 
April 14, 2011 - PRLog -- The cast for Chinese Pirate Productions’ live stage adaptation of the cult favorite web series “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” has been officially set. After a competitive casting process, the three lead characters are Nathan Turner in the title role of Dr. Horrible, Michael Minto as the blustery Captain Hammer, and YouTube sensation and singer/songwriter Jane Lui as Penny (www.janelui.com). Ensemble members Michael Nieto, Susan Hammonds, Adina Silva, Claire Kaplan, Zack Wolfe, and Thomas Lokensgard round out the cast.

The musical "tragi-comedy" web series, created by writer/director Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly), was adapted for the stage by Lowe.  The show will feature musical arrangements and orchestrations by Musical Director Brian Hammond, sets by award winning Scenic Designer David Weiner (700 Sundays - La Jolla Playhouse and Broadway),  Lighting design by Chris Rynne (How the Grinch Stole Christmas-the Old Globe Theatre), costumes by Jannifer Mah, and introducing choreographer Karen Li.

The show will run in repertory with GAM3RS: the Play at the 10th Avenue Theatre in downtown San Diego from July 16-30th as part of Gam3rCon, a weeklong convention celebrating the world of video games an interactive entertainment. Gam3rCon coincides with Comic-Con International.

Advance tickets for Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog -LIVE- in San Diego are currently available at Brown Paper Tickets.  An advance sale discount price of $25 will be available until June 1st, when tickets will go to $30 online, and $35 at the door.
