Dr. V and EIC Honoring Entertainment Industry Portrayal of Science, Engineering and Technology

Dr. Amy Vanderbilt has been chosen to be a panel judge for EIC’s Science Engineering and Technology awards.

April 11, 2011 - PRLog -- Dr. Amy Vanderbilt has announced that she will be a panel judge for EIC's Science Engineering and Technology Awards. EIC's S.E.T. Project is a media initiative to raise the importance of Science, Engineering, and Technology fields in our youth. Dr. V’s enthusiasm for math and science education will be a huge asset to the S.E.T awards which is a recognition program and awards show that rewards positive and accurate depictions and promotion of science, engineering and technology in film, television, documentary and other entertainment media.

Dr. Vanderbilt, TrendPOV.com Founder and Chief Strategist, was asked to use her background in filtering out which shows, documentaries and other entries offered accurate, positive and entertaining views of these fields and the people in them. "I was thrilled to be a part of it," said Dr. V, "because this program has a very good chance at changing the very core of our culture near term in a way that will benefit us for generations to come." TrendPOV first discovered EIC at the start of the S.E.T program, when it awarded them the Spotlight for talent and workforce. Dr. V notes, "We have been following their progress closely ever since and are honored to be a part of it." There are modest award ceremonies planned for Los Angeles and possibly Washington DC later in the year. Take a look at EIC online (www.eiconline.org) for more details.

The impetus of SET’s initiative is due to the American population’s lack of interest in the fields of science, engineering, and technology and the growing threat of a diminished workforce in these fields.  "Changing the culture of science, engineering and technology in the US is key to filling the talent pipeline for these disciplines in the current and upcoming generations”, noted Dr. Vanderbilt. She also added that, "Companies need these skills that are increasingly hard to find. It's not surprising to see more great companies backing this effort at each stage."
