The Global Fund for Children Welcomes Two New Board Members

Rick Burdick and Arnab Ghatak Bring Years of Expertise to Global Nonprofit

March 30, 2011 - PRLog -- The Global Fund for Children (GFC) is pleased to announce that Rick Burdick and Arnab Ghatak have joined the board of directors. Burdick is a partner at Akin Gump and brings a background in management and international corporate transactions. Ghatak is a partner at McKinsey & Company, specializing in global public health and pharmaceutical consulting.

“I am honored to welcome both Rick and Arnie to our board,” said Kristin Lindsey, CEO of GFC. “They bring invaluable expertise and unique insights at an important time in GFC’s evolution. I look forward to their wisdom and support as we continue to expand our efforts to serve vulnerable children around the world.”

As a managing partner at the international law firm of Akin Gump, Burdick has worked with clients on a global scale, including in the Middle East, Russia, China, and India. He was recognized on the Washington, DC, Super Lawyers list from 2007 to 2009 and is currently listed as a leading lawyer in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business. Burdick serves on the board of directors of the Academy of Achievement and on the board of trustees of the Marshall-Wythe School of Law Foundation. Burdick received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Santa Clara and his JD from the College of William & Mary.

As a partner at McKinsey & Company, Ghatak focuses on strategy in the healthcare field, with clients in both the nonprofit and the for-profit arenas. He is sought as an expert in his field and has served foundations, NGOs, multilateral institutions, and governments. He leads McKinsey’s Global Public Health practice in the Americas and also serves on the board of the Pangaea Global AIDS Foundation. Ghatak earned a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology from Princeton University, an MD from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School, and an MBA from the Wharton School.

Complementing these additions to the board is GFC’s new Hong Kong Leadership Council, which joins existing leadership councils in Dallas and Silicon Valley. The three councils are composed of committed individuals who serve as ambassadors to advance the mission of GFC and generously support GFC and its work by hosting events and fundraising locally. Collectively, they provide invaluable energy and expertise to GFC’s work by bringing awareness to the issues vulnerable children face worldwide.
