The video, directed by Serg Soza with cinematography by Andrew Lyman-Clarke, takes frontman Matthew Dunehoo’s “rosier than possible” mantra and puts it in motion. Shot on the streets of New York, the video follows Dunehoo as he walks, observing others as he repeats “smooth sailing ahead”. Says Dunehoo, “I play the central character and in his open state of consideration and constant reiteration of the idea that everything will be ok, he seems to be open to radical circumstances going on around him. It's as if others can tell that my character is possessed of something they can't quite put their fingers on, in the midst of their own nonsense.” The video is available now at http://www.youtube.com/ “Smooth Sailing Ahead”, shot on a very cold January weekend, features the Jackson Hole restaurant in Manhattan and the Local 269, a Lower East Side bar where drummer Gerry White works and is a favorite venue for the Teardrops. “Smooth Sailing Ahead” can be found on Baby Teardrops’ latest release, X is for Love, which comes out April 12. Like the burst of energy that comes from colliding particles, Dunehoo (vocals, guitar), Megan Thomas (bass) and White (drums) derive their sound from clash and collision of distinct personalities. The result is full of driving, propulsive rhythm and hypnotic mantras. Elements from across the spectrum of emotion can be found on X is for Love; the joyous and beautiful crashing into the difficult and painful with a collection of songs that sound like that of a grunged out New Pornographers if they met The Pixies. Praise for Baby Teardrops "Brooklyn's Baby Teardrops -- which is fronted by former local indie-rocker Matt Dunnehoo of Doris Henson -- rolled through Kansas City to pick up the Roman Numerals before heading down south for the MidCoast Takeover showcase, and they treated RecordBar to one hell of a night of dancing, racing indie-rock." —Pitch Weekly "Smooth Sailing Ahead" Music Video featured as MAGNET's "Film At 11" —MAGNET Magazine "...Baby Teardrops provide a cool soundtrack for the last few snowboard and the first few skate or surfboard sessions of the year...Fans of pioneering 80s Westcoast label SST Records and acts like Dinosaur L, Angst, Trotsky Icepick or Husker Du should give this a spin...It’s the big wall-of-guitar noise grounded by propulsive bass and drums that screams 80s Grunge, yet the songwriting has moved on and Baby Teardrops are more than a Grunge revival band." —Tuneraker.com "Indie rockers Baby Teardrops make it immediately clear they've got a clear, concise rock vision few other bands just starting out could even dream of." —Yahoo! News "...cooler than an eskimo's butt cheeks 'Banged In The Heart', which sounds like The Dandy Warhols if they'd been born in Seattle..." —The Devil Has The Best Tuna # # # A publicity company with the highest level of passion, honesty, and integrity, while simultaneously successfully launching the careers of independent musicians.
