The 29-year-old adventure athlete is a sought-after speaker who has backpacked, skied, and packrafted over 30,000 miles through many of the world's most prized backcountry and wilderness areas--the equivalent of traveling 1.2 times around Earth's equator. "Nature in Alaska is on an entirely different scale from what we have in the Lower 48, and relating this has been a struggle for me,” said Skurka. “It reminds me of how I felt when I first came to Colorado, after growing up in the East--I suppose that wilderness really is a relative and personal definition.” A Q&A session will follow the presentation and an assortment of Skurka's lightweight backpacking gear will be on display. Event proceeds will benefit the Colorado Mountain Club. All attendees will be entered into a door-prize drawing to win a Flylow jacket valued at $275. “Not only would our 7,000 members enjoy listening to Andrew’s epic journey, any extreme outdoor-enthusiast or armchair adventurer would like to have this opportunity to meet and be motivated by Skurka,” said Colorado Mountain Club’s Marketing and Outreach Manager Rachel Scott. “When this opportunity presented itself, we jumped and wanted to make it available to any Coloradan--CMC member or not.” Seating is limited. Tickets are $8 for CMC members and $10 for non-members.
