Barboursville Vineyards Opening Night Wine Sponsor of Eat, Write, Retreat

This is an invaluable opportunity for Eat, Write, Retreat attendees to not only learn about the wine-making process, but also to discover how to pair wines and how to write about wine from an expert in the field.

March 24, 2011 - PRLog -- Eat, Write, Retreat is honored to partner with Barboursville Vineyards to bring a selection of their award-winning wines to this dynamic food blogging event.

Barboursville is a vineyard steeped in tradition, residing on an historic Virginian estate designed by Thomas Jefferson and located only miles from Monticello. Known for combining new world sensibilities with old world techniques, Barboursville is the most vintage-versatile vineyard in the region, offering nearly 20 varietals.

Sommelier Jason Tesauro will be on hand at Eat, Write, Retreat to pour wines and educate attendees on the viticulture at Barboursville. Jason was recently awarded a FOLIO Eddie Award for his cover story in Sommelier Journal, where he is a frequent contributor. This is an invaluable opportunity for Eat, Write, Retreat attendees to not only learn about the wine-making process, but also to discover how to pair wines and how to write about wine from an expert in the field.

Join us in May to enjoy a delicious selection of Barboursville Wines.

About Barboursville Vineyards

The Barboursville plantation was acquired in 1976 by Gianni Zonin with the seemingly ridiculous expectation of creating a vineyard. Thomas Jefferson had attempted this, well into the 19th Century at Monticello, always failing to achieve a single harvest. More than a century later, Zonin persisted and succeeded in proving that the region can produce some of the finest wines on the East Coast.

The estate also hosts the James Beard award-winning Palladio Restaurant and The 1804 Inn, where owners Gianni and Silvana Zonin have opened their residence to guests looking for respite at this historic estate in the Virginia Piedmont.
