Employers Drop Health Insurance – Employees Find Coverage For Less

Health care cost is at the highest point in history. Employers are being forced to make decisions that they thought they would never have to make with health care. Until they find ways to cut health insurance premiums by as much as 70%.

March 22, 2011 - PRLog -- The Health care Reform bill was designed to reduce the number of uninsured.  Health care cost is at the highest point in history. The cost of health insurance is growing out of control. For years employers are faced with health care costs exceeding profits of the business.  Employers are being forced to make decisions that they thought they would never have to make with health care.  There comes a turning point for a business owner.  They shut the doors or make cuts somewhere within the company.  Employers have already cut benefits so what’s next option?  Employees wake up one morning and find themselves without health insurance.

Butch Zemar, President of Elite Benefits of America says, "At one point over 60% of employers offered health insurance as a benefit for working for a company.  In 2008 that number dropped to 50%.  As of February 2011, that number fell below 48%.  Even though the healthcare costs are skyrocketing, Americans are shocked to see the percentage of employers pulling the plug."

Mathematically, it would only add up that the more employers are dropping their health insurance plans the number of uninsured would go through the roof.  For every health plan dropped it could be hundreds, if not thousands, of employees losing coverage.  However, over the last 2 years the uninsured rate stayed consistent at 16%.
