March 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Alnico magnets can be made from a variety of materials such as cobalt, nickel, aluminum and sometimes even titanium and copper. A hard and brittle material, Alnico is known for sometimes being difficult to rework. Rods, rings, discs, blocks, cylinders and horseshoes are just a few of the shapes that alnico can be manufactured in. With high residual inductions and high energies alnico magnets are normally manufactured through sintering or casting. Casting is a process where molten metal alloy is poured into a mold and processed through a number of various heat-treated cycles. Manufacturing magnets through sintering is a process where two main materials are combined and melted down until where they stick to each other. Sintering alnico results in a fine alnico powder that is then compacted in a press. Alnico magnets are able to resist extremely high temperatures, can keep their magnetic qualities for a long time period, in addition to these benefits they are also strong and affordable. Alnico magnets are excellent choices for industrial and consumer applications.. Read My page.

A chemical compound of iron oxide and ceramic is the basis of ceramic ferrite magnets. Ceramic ferrite magnets are made using a process of pressing and sintering ceramic and magnetic powders. When sintering, which is a process often used in manufacturing magnets, two main materials are combined using heat until they stick together. Described as being hard and brittle, ceramic magnets are affordable to produce.Ceramic ferrite magnets can be categorized as either hard ferrites or soft ferrites, although these terms are misleading. The difference between soft and hard ferrite magnets is in the intensity of the magnetic field required to de-magnetize the material . Soft ferrite magnets do not need as intensive of a magnetic field to de-magnetize as hard ferrite. Ceramic magnets are unique because they can be applied to flexible fabrics, making them ideal for decorative purposes, crafts and other usages in the home, school or work place. In actuality, there are a variety of different uses for ceramic ferrite magnets. Check my site.

As far as rare earth magnets go, neodymium is one of the most popular because it is affordable and generally strong. All rare earth magnets are considered permanent and strong, and they are called permanent magnets because they don't easily lose their magnetism. Developed over 40 years ago, rare earth magnets are still the strongest type of permanent magnet available. The alloys of rare earth elements such as iron, cobalt and nickel primarily comprise rare earth magnets. These magnets are usually plated or coated to protect them from breaking and chipping because they tend to be brittle, making them more vulnerable to corrosion. Samarium-cobalt and neodymium are to of the most commonly used rare earth magnets. When it comes to permanent magnets neodymium is the strongest, even stronger than alnico, ferrite or samarium-cobalt magnets. The term rare earth magnet makes it sound like neodymium magnets are made from materials that are unique and hard to find, which is very misleading because the fact is that the elements that comprise these magnets are easily found, which is why neodymium is affordable. Neodymium magnets have numerous uses in a number of different fields including industrial, security, health, mechanics and electronics.

High energy strip magnets use a nitrile rubber base to make increase their resistance to oils and acid, which is why they are such a powerful type of flexible magnetic strip. The amount of magnetic energy stored in a magnet is measured using MGOe. Available in 1.1 - 1.6 MGOe, high energy strip magnets are more powerful than normal flexible magnetic strips. Magnetic strips come in many different sizes, shapes, materials and have adhesive backing and can be laminated. Ideal for laminating and punching, flexible magnetic strips can be cut to length, are available in a number of sizes and widths and will stick to any ferrous surface. Magnetic tape can be used in many different ways around your home, work or school. Magnetic tape can stick to many surfaces because the back has a magnetic face and the front has an adhesive face. Magnetic tape can be used for a number of different applications because it is so affordable, thin, flexible and versatile.

Block magnets in general are an extremely durable choice of magnet and tend to have high levels of magnetism, which make them perfect to use in industrial settings. Before you determine the magnet's composition consider the conditions and uses the magnet will perform under. Rare earth magnets like samarium-cobalt and neodymium are stronger than alnico, ferrite or ceramic magnets, making them good choices for industrial applications where the magnet needs to able to handle heavy duty applications and uses. Some magnets will lose or maintain magnetism at different temperatures which is why you should keep the temperature as well as the strength of magnet required in mind when you make a decision. When you make your choice about which magnet to use keep the use and requirements of the magnet in mind.
