Follow on Google News | SHARE Offers Affordable Easter Dinner PackagesSHARE, a nonprofit volunteer-run food buying club that’s been helping families save on groceries for over 25 years, will be offering a complete Easter Dinner Package in April.
By: Ben LeFort, SHARE Wisconsin Each Easter Dinner Package includes all the fixings for a family of six: a 5-lb. boneless honey ham, a 29-oz. can of sweet potatoes, two 15-oz. cans of asparagus spears, two 7-oz. packages of raspberry muffin mix, a deluxe produce assortment with more than 9 lbs. of 7 kinds of fresh fruits and vegetables, and an 8-inch pre-baked lattice top peach pie. SHARE offers this package for just $25 plus shipping and handling in some areas. How can SHARE offer all of that food for just $25? The organization’ Unlike many nonprofit food programs, none of the food distributed through SHARE is donated or government commodity. SHARE purchases all of the food it distributes on the wholesale market, just like a supermarket. SHARE offers a monthly selection of quality frozen meats, fresh fruits and vegetables, canned and dry goods, convenience items, family-size packages and organic produce. Members can pick and choose the food they order every month. SHARE is now accepting orders for the Easter Dinner Package as well as a selection of other foods for pick-up in April. Families can order online at www.sharewi.org through April 3, or they can call toll-free 800-548-2124 to order through April 1. Pick-up will be held on Saturday, April 16 at most SHARE sites. SHARE’s online ordering system accepts debit and credit card payments, while the local volunteer team and main office can also accept cash, check, money order and Quest/Link/Bridge (food stamp) cards. Local businesses, churches and other organizations are also invited to participate in SHARE’s Easter Dinner Package distribution. Some organizations make cash donations or give SHARE gift certificates so that deserving local families can enjoy a delicious holiday meal. Other organizations gather volunteers to form a SHARE holiday dinner package distribution site. Interested groups can call SHARE’s main office for more information. # # # SHARE's nonprofit, volunteer-run food buying club helps families save 30-50% on supermarket quality food.
