Working whilst your study:

If you hold a visa you can work up to 20 hours per week during term – time and additional hours during holidays. Many courses offer the opportunity to complete up to one year of employment experience as part of the course. Links in India:

Leeds Met is closely linked to the Indian Subcontinent and opened an office in 2004 to enable progression of links with India and to demonstrate their long term commitment to the Indian market.

In 2007, a Leeds Met Indian Alumni  Association was launched and consists of over 500 members that meet annually. The last meeting was graced by the famous actor Rahul Bose whose links with the university are because of his interest in Rugby.
During the event , Rahul said , “My association with Leeds Met has not been for too long, but it has been a pleasure to know them. Leeds Met is not just about being studious; it is a place where one sees the overall growth of an individual. The university is into sports, social cause and films. All three of these are very much part of me.”

In 2007, Leeds formed a partnership with the IIFA Awards of Indian Cinema and gave Amitabh Bachchan , Shabana Azmi , Yash Chopra and Praful Patel honorary doctorates at a grand ceremony at the Headingly campus. While accepting the award, Amitabh said, “It is a privilege and honour to receive this accolade from this prestigious university alongside colleagues from my fraternity. Education opens up a myriad of opportunities and is an amalgamation of diverse disciplines with campus years broadening knowledge and aiding personality development.”

In 2010, Leeds Met partnered the Commonwealth Games in Delhi and volunteers from the university spent a month assisting the Organising Committee to successfully deliver the games.
