This delicious "fruit" has a lot of history, and with that long history comes many interesting facts that you may not have known about. It is the only fruit that has seeds on the outside. Believe it or not, it can work wonders in the beauty department. Rubbing crushed strawberries on teeth has been said to whiten the teeth. Using it as a facial mask may help make the skin look younger and smoother, and applying it to the hair may actually help beautify the condition of the hair. Madame Tallien, an important social figure during the French Revolution, had the luxury of bathing in 22 pounds of fresh strawberry juice daily because she believed that this luscious fruit preserved her beauty.

Strawberries are also very good for your health. They are amongst the top 10 antioxidant foods today. Free radicals in our body can cause damage. Antioxidants helps prevent and repair damage done by these free radicals. Foods high in antioxidants have the amazing ability to help fight cancer, heart disease and aging. Strawberries are also good for your waistline because they are low in calories. A cup of strawberries only has only 55 calories! They are also known to burn fat because they are rich in Vitamin C. Vitamin C has been proven to increase metabolism and burn off calories quicker.

This heart-shaped fruit has been considered a symbol of Venus, the goddess of love. It is often given with chocolates and wine on Valentines Day. In Greek Mythology, the Goddess Aphrodite was so heart-broken by the death of her beloved Adonis, that her tear drops fell to the ground as small hearts, which were strawberries. Folklore states that splitting a double strawberry with someone you love can make this person fall in love with you back. In France, newly webs were served soup made out of fresh strawberries because the fruit was considered to be an aphrodisiac.

This state fruit of Louisiana has been linked to wealth and good fortune. Maybe that is why strawberry decor has become very popular in many homes today. From curtains to decorative pots and pans. It is often used in the kitchen or dining room but has become popular in the bedroom as well. Strawberry bedding has been known to create a simple but elegant country-themed bedroom.
