-- “Going Big” is the only way Antoine Hood knows how. He is a decorated Air Force Academy Graduate, Serviceman, professional basketball player, father, and businessman amongst other things. Despite a long list of professional accolades and achievements, a quick conversation will quickly reveal his true passion lies in the game he has come to love. Basketball has taken Hood across the country and around the world, all the while, never leaving him far from his roots and the place from which he came. A Texas native (now living in Florida), Hood has longed to return to Dallas, bringing his heart, his talents, and his never ending desire to “give back” to future generations of aspiring ball players. In 2011 he will do just that. Joining HSBCAMPS (America’s fastest growing youth basketball program and its all-star staff of professional and collegiate coaches and players), Hood will switch gears from player to coach, and serve as an integral part of the programs first ever trip to the Dallas area.
“I feel that everyone has a responsibility to give back to others because their gifts and talents come from Heaven in which they were never ours to not share with the world,” explains Hood. Teaming up with former NBA Development League teammate and friend Carson Sofro (HSBCAMPS Director), Hood could not be more thrilled and excited about the upcoming camp in June. “I’m looking forward to seeing the development of each camper from the first day to the last, giving them the tools necessary to continue their basketball success.”
The HSBCAMPS Morning Clinic and Day Camp will be held in the new Forney Sports Center, just outside Dallas. The four-day sessions are geared towards teaching and developing the fundamentals of basketball for boys and girls in elementary, middle and high school grades. The Morning Clinic is open to youth in grades one through three. The Day Camp is open to youth in grades four through 12. From team competitions to individual contests, players will participate in fun instructional work, under the direction of the HSBCAMPS professional staff.
In addition to the greater Dallas area, the nationally expanding youth basketball camp will also be serving up high scoring experiences in Houston, Texas; Boise, Idaho; Hailey, Idaho; Twin Falls, Idaho; Bend, Ore.; Medford, Ore.; Park City, Utah; and Bellevue, Wash.
