By: KMR-Media On April 14, 1999 a team of expeditioners were dropped off at 88 degrees north latitude. From there they headed to the most northern point to a safe drop zone for their departure. Their team of one woman and ten men were virtual strangers and were expexted to reach the North Poll in 16 days or less by foot. They embarked on an Extraordinary journey that only a few can say they have ever accomplised such a mission. Randy tells his Extraordinary Story in an interview with Ordinary People. He explains that the group of people he had teamed with in 1999 for their historical, record breaking expedition were virtually strangers. He says that in order for them to have successfully reached the North Poll, the team was required to cooperate with eachother or pay the price of failure or even death. Some of the difficulties and challenges Randy and his team faced were: 200 Miles on foot, -25 to -65 F degrees, 24 hours of daylight, pressure ridges, ice flows, equipment failure, injury, $60,000 rescue fee, mental stress, physical stess, the cold combined with wet clothes, frostbite. Randy's team set two records on their exbedition to the North Pole. They had in their group the oldest team member to have ever reached the North Pole by foot, Corky Peterson (69) and the first Irishman to have ever reach the Pole, Alan Humphries.
