2012 Ford Focus Electric Release - Boston Ford Dealer Applies for Pilot Dealership Status

March 3, 2011 - PRLog -- On March 2, 2011 Jack Madden Ford submitted its application to collaborate with Ford Motor Company as one of its Pilot Market Dealerships for the 2012 Ford Focus Electric.

As gas prices rise nationwide, with an average gallon of gas costing $3.39 in Massachusetts, Jack Madden Ford is attempting to avoid the rush by turning in their electric vehicle application to Ford Motor Company on the first day of the submission period. Ford Motor Company is creating a dealership-network in nineteen designated Pilot Markets across the United States. These markets are:

Pilot Markets
-Atlanta, GA
-Chicago, IL
-San Francisco, CA
-Phoenix, AZ
-Richmond, VA
-Houston, TX
-Detroit, MI
-New York, NY
-Portland, OR
-Washington, DC
-Boston, MA
-Los Angeles, CA
-Orlando, FL
-Raleigh-Durham, NC

In conjunction with the dealer application, Ford Motor Company has provided dealers with a variety of requirements to qualify as Pilot Dealers. Requirements of note are:

Dealership Charging Stations
Two on-site Ford charging stations (one in customer parking/one in service) will be installed. The charging station installation process will be spearheaded through a collaboration between Ford and Best Buy.

Go Green Dealer Program
Partner dealers are required to participate in the Ford Go Green Dealer Onsite Facility Assessment which will identify opportunities to improve dealership efficiencies and present savings opportunities for the dealer's consideration and implementation.

Other requirements include: electric vehicle showroom displays, sales and service department training, and demonstration vehicle quotas.

Timing
Selected dealer applications will be accepted in the nineteen Pilot Markets through May 6, 2011. No firm timeframe has been provided for the electric vehicle’s retail release.
