SA slant on the Honda Classic

March 3, 2011 - PRLog -- week's Honda Classic in Florida will be a first for US PGA Tour rookies Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel.



The South African young guns will be making their first Honma Beres MG 803 Irons-Gold = http://www.enjoymygolf.com/goods-267-Honma+Beres+MG+803+Irons-Gold.html since becoming members of the Tour in the same regular PGA Tour event

They will line up in an extremely strong field at the Honda Classic at the PGA National Golf Club's Champion Course at Palm Beach Gardens in Florida.

And, not only do they get to play against three of the world's top four players - Lee Westwood, Luke Donald and Graeme McDowell - they'll also get to be part of the scene as the Florida swing gets underway.

Only Martin Kaymer, the new World No 1, will be missing even though he must know it will be putting his Rankings crown under immediate attack, both from Westwood and from Donald

Last week's WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship and this week's Honda Classic is when the PGA Tour gets serious after what has felt like a low-key start to the year, perhaps because some of the European Tour's Honma Beres MG 803 Irons-Gold battles have tended to over-shadow the US show.

Now it's the run in to the first major of the year, the Masters on April 7, that will be driving most of the games best players.

Oosthuizen and Schwartzel are safely in to the Masters, so the Florida swing now will be all about looking to win if at all possible and, if not, consolidating their positions on the Official World Golf Rankings list on which Oosthuizen is at 21 and Schwartzel at 25 this week.

At the very least, they will be getting experience on what has been described as the toughest and loneliest professional tour on earth

Els won the Honda in 2008, Sabbatini is fresh from sharing fifth place in last week's Maykoba Golf Classic in Mexico, and 2008 Masters champion Immelman is attempting to get his game back on track after a lengthy injury hiatus.

After the Honda, the PGA Tour over the next three weeks, will heads to Miami for the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Blue Monster, the Transitions Championship at Innisbrook and the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill before the Masters comes up.

All of these events have produced recent South African winners.
